Each year the Women’s Institute, more commonly known as the WI, produces an annual publication for its (more than) 215,000 members which is so packed full of useful information, it lasts all year – and in 2016 the publication was a bumper edition as the WI was celebrating its 100th year!
Midland Financial Solutions’ Director Kevin Edwards was approached in late 2015 to become involved in their flagship financial feature – this year entitled ‘Safe Savings’ – and was asked to provide his advice to explain savings and investment planning. Kevin’s key tips were used for the feature’s ‘Top Five Financial Steps’, and his expert comment and advice was used throughout the 1500 word article.
MFS Director Kevin Edwards commented:
“It was a real honour to be able to provide my expert opinion and a wide range of information to an institution as long established and as prestigious as the Women’s Institute – and to have the opportunity to be included in their annual publication so that my advice is available to members all year round is really fantastic. Hopefully the, over 200,000, WI members will find the information I have provided of interest and I hope that many will use it either as a refresher to remind them of best practice or as a first step towards improving their financial security.”
The WI, which is now the UK’s largest voluntary organisation in the UK, plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities, the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities. The organisation has over 6,500 branches and continues to enjoy increasing popularity even a century after it was first formed.
